Summer Weddings

I feel bad, I’ve been so busy with wedding season, I really have not had time to blog much this summer.  I thought I would throw up a quick post with some of my favorite images from this summer’s weddings (so far).  I’ve had 3 weddings in the past 8 days, so I have plenty to pick from 🙂

Allison & Mike {Wedding}

I love these pictures.  I am so excited with the way they turned out!  Allison and Mike were an awesome couple to work with and I feel their pictures reflect that 🙂  Not everyone can pull off the “no smile” serious look, but these two rocked it!  The day was perfect and the venue was fabulous.  The ceremony was held on the skydeck of the Loft 310 building in downtown Kalamazoo.  Reception was on the 2nd floor.  The couple were very untraditional, there was not a wedding party and they served donuts instead of cake.  Check out the pics, let me know what you think.  Fellow photographers, give me your thoughts!

Mike & Ashley {Wedding}

I have been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. I have known Ashley and her family for over 5 years now, her little brother and my son are best friends. Our families also go to the same church, so we see each other every week. So when she came to me over a year ago and asked me to be part of their special day, I was beyond excited! Everything went so well, as a photographer I couldn’t have asked for more. I pray a lifetime of blessings on you Mike and Ashley. God bless you both as you begin your lives together!

Justin & Sarah {Wedding}

It was such a beautiful day for a wedding this past Saturday. And I was lucky enough to share it with two awesome families. Sarah and Justin, I’m so glad I was able to work with you and pray for blessings in your marriage as you become a family. Thanks again for a special day! And it was great to see two other couples that I photographed not so long ago.  The brother of the bride and his wife, with their new baby and the brother of the groom and his wife.  I hope you’re enjoying Traverse City.  To see the slideshow from this beautiful October wedding, click here.

Traditional Wedding Photography

I have a lot of people ask me what my “style” is for wedding photography.  I always hate to answer this question, because I don’t know that I have a particular “style”.  But when I pulled pictures for this post, I noticed a lot of similarities in my shooting style.  I often tell people that I’m not an old fashioned traditional photographer.  I like to try new poses and step out of the box as often as I can, but living in West Michigan I find that most of my brides and grooms want a mix of fun, new and traditional.  I don’t have a lot of requests for a complete photojournalism look, but I do like to document the day.  And almost all of my family shots are very traditional.  Following are what I would call traditional wedding portraits.  I love the clean, crisp look to these pictures.  Enjoy!

Kristin & Phil {Wedding}

I don’t know where to begin…I have been eagerly waiting for this wedding for 18 months! I’ve known Kristin for almost ten years, I feel like she is my second little sister. And even though I know she is way too young, I call her mom, Marie, my second mother. I love them both and was so very honored to be asked to spend the day with them. Phil and Kristin, your love for each other is contagious. The best part is seeing you laugh together, smiling, loving. May God bless you both as you continue to grow in your love for each other. All my love ♥

Blake & Bryce {Wedding}

Here is a full sneak peek from my wedding last Saturday.  Blake and Bryce were married at Laketown Conference Center in Saugatuck.  It was quite warm, but a beautiful time was had by all.  I love outdoor weddings (when the weather cooperates) and love the pics I’m able to take outdoors.  These pics are some of my personal favorites ever and I hope you enjoy!
